If you’re not a statistician, allow us to explain the joke. You see, in high school we learned that size matters. It’s true in statistics as in other corners of life (ahem). Larger sample sizes used in inferential statistics tend to produce smaller p-values if the statistical finding is significant. But we shouldn’t fixate on the size of our p. We should turn our attention to the magnitude of the effect. That is, the size of your p should not be used as a measure of validity (of a result) or of strength (of an association).
