Your office visitors will understand: Six Sigma is a never-ending journey but it's rewarding, like cruising old Route 66, that greatest of American highways.

Hang a touch of professional pride on your office walls or anywhere this rustic nod to the great American highway feels right. Watch for the moment your friends figure out it's not Route 66 but Route 6 Sigma.

Makes a great, unique gift for six sigma black belts, lean manufacturing acolytes, industrial engineers, and anyone and everyone in the continuous improvement biz.

Choose from eight sizes. Also available in framed versions.

Most QI Curiosities visitors will associate Life is Highway with Rascal Flatts’ version, recorded for the movie, Cars. But did you know that prior to that 2006 Pixar classic, it was recorded by Chris LeDoux in 1998? We didn’t. But we did remember the blazing hot summer of 1992 when the radio was mercilessly playing the original. They just wouldn’t let up.

The first time Americans were introduced to Life is Highway, it wasn’t even a country tune. It was alternative rock. Written and performed by Canadian, Tom Cochrane. Here’s Kathleen Rooney writing for March Fadness:

Perhaps at some point very shortly after the passage under Eisenhower of the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956, the phrase was considered novel, but many decades later, it seems irritating and trite.

To call anything that is not actually a highway a highway certainly betrays a lack of original thought. … It should be against the lyrical law to say that it is.

And yet ... Life is a Highway is the audio equivalent of a big friendly golden retriever asking you to play fetch; you’d have to have a heart of stone to resist.

That cliché Rooney refers to also applies to any of the numerous songs that likens life to a river. I’m looking at you, Garth Brooks and R.E.M.

And that’s why this Route 6 Sigma design doesn’t have any words. The cliché is implied.
