🎇 Give someone that spark of joy that comes from receiving a handwritten card.

A great card for fans of female power.

Here’s a card for the leaders of data scientists, statisticians, industrial engineering departments, quality improvement teams, op-ex experts, lean thinkers, and six sigma black belts.

Look close at the bottom of her levitating scorecard for the punchline, “Mortals need data.”

Athena, daughter of Zeus, wise warrior and strategist, fearless protector of cities, seen here taking council from her direct reports while staring holes through the floating, golden flatscreen. The base of her scoreboard reminds us mortals of our duty.

Athena is usually depicted wearing gleaming body armor. We find her away from her spear and round shield, but still wearing her gold trojan helmet.

She’s leading a conversation with three soldiers. All four are studying the latest data: a Pareto chart, two control charts, and a scatter diagram … all manifested in shimmering gold.

Check out the pic Brilliant Brazilian artist, Denio Viana, used as his inspiration for his design. We don’t know where or when this shot was taken, but it was so on the nose.

If you don’t know…

“In God we trust, everyone else must bring data!” That’s the old saying. Denio extrapolated this proverb to Ancient Greece and four busy, data-minded gods:

1) Of course we have Athena here.

2) Demeter, goddess of fertility and agriculture, always with a cornucopia and laurels holding back her beautiful hair. We find her floating, presiding over her crops and three centaurs who’ve retired from the battlefields to the grain fields. She’s explaining her analysis of crop yields to the supervisor.

3) Lonely, troubled Poseidon, god of the seas and storms. He’s supposed to protect seafarers but he’s distracted right at the moment by his spreadsheets.

4) Zeus, king of gods, god of thunder and the sky, ruler atop Mount Olympus, gnawing on a Yellow No. 2, and frustratedly tapping his electrified fingers while hammering away at his desktop. We think he’s probably waiting for Tableau to load.
